Bang & Olufsen is known around the world for its exclusive TVs, music systems and loudspeakers - products that combine technological refinement, emotional attraction and design. Bang & Olufsen products are sold primarily by a comprehensive network of retail outlets in over 100 countries. The majority of these retail outlets are concept stores, which exclusively sell Bang & Olufsen products. Beyond producing home entertainment products, Bang & Olufsen also uses its knowledge about acoustics and design to make its mark on the car industry, where the company works with leading brands to develop advanced sound systems for exclusive models.

The challenge

Bang & Olufsen has products in lots of different markets, and therefore they also need their material to be available in languages other than Danish. Bang & Olufsen were just about to launch a line of their latest loudspeakers, and therefore needed assistance with translating the new product descriptions and manuals into English. Since the international press has a close eye on new products from a world famous brand such as Bang & Olufsen, the language, of course, had to be completely perfect.

The solution

At Diction, we have a lot of clients with products that are about to be launched abroad, and therefore we understand the importance of the product descriptions being free of errors and the right terminology being used. At Diction, we have a number of specialists to draw on within each industry, and in this instance we had a handful of translators who had previously worked with the terminology relating to music systems and loudspeakers. This resulted in the translations being completed on time and with the correct terminology. The loudspeakers which Bang & Olufsen launched have since been sold across Europe and the United States.
